Points Competition from Endurance Events
A club endurance running competition is being trialled during 2008 for seniors and older cross country, fell, multi-terrain and road runners.WCAC members will be involved by taking part in the designated races, points gained for other or extra races will be included. John Driscoll will collate the points table by extracting results of members from the race results he examines for the Cheshire handicap scheme. Some might know he has been involved over the past 3 years helping George Bunner develop his idea of an Endurance Handicap scheme which essentially gives you a number, like in Golf, depending on your recent levels of performance.
All that is required of most of you is to take part in a few more eventsThe races and system of allocating points for them can be read here.
John’s overall proposal is to run a points system on your participation in road races, MT events and cross country during 2008. Points would be gained by participation and also by performance relative to what you would be expected to do based on your most recent handicap code. Mike Lamb used this for the senior Christmas handicap, but only 4 took part, the results were the closest Mike can ever recall. Please note that performance points do not depend on your time relative to other runners – they depend completely on your time in any race in comparison to what time would be expected from your handicap code. Equality.
